I went out to a bison farm last week for the Globe and Mail just south of Calgary and spent a couple of hours photographing Dr. Terry Church, ranch manager at the Canadian Rocky Mountain Ranch and a few of his 300 bison. A big bison means a big photo – it got a lot of ink, and was happy to see it get such great play. It was a fun shoot and my biggest challenge was trying to light a 1200 lb. animal. I used a 1800 w/second head with a 47″ Octobox and moved around the herd ever so slightly.
